In all honesty, give that person who invented Slab Pie a medal because the concept is foolproof and effortless and is perfect for someone who is looking for  Cinnamon Apple Slab Pie is one rustic fall dessert that you cannot miss out on. Trust me, it will knock your boots off.

Now that we’re heading into the season of Fall or what some call Autumn, there are so many fantastic recipes that I want to share with you especially this one, Momma’s Own Cinnamon-Apple Slap Pie.

Cinnamon-Apple Slab Pie has been a family favorite since at least my childhood. I remember during the colder weather my mother baking Apples, Apple Crisp, and Apple-Cinnamon Slap Pie. Yes, it felt like we were in apple heaven. But nothing beats your mom’s recipes. In my opinion, that’s how traditions begin in the first place. Am I right? -And I’m definitely one who loves introducing to my family, traditions that I grew up enjoying.

Cinnamon-Apple Slab Pie is effortless and oh-so-good! Yes, it might look strange and flat to some, but that’s the amazing part, it actually is flat. As most pies are baked from in a circular pie crust, this one is baked flat, like a pizza. It’s a fun way for the kids and adults to eat it since Cinnamon-Apple Slap Pie can be cut into different shapes and sizes. Makes it perfect to grab a slice and go.

Let’s get started! For this Cinnamon-Apple Slab Pie recipe, it’s all about the pies crust. Don’t get me wrong Apple-Cinnamon filling is one of the main ingredients to this jaw-dropping tasty pie but you want to have a crumbly yet soft enough to chew crust.

Let’s talk crust. You will need:

  • 1 ¾ cups of All-Purpose Flour, plus more dusting
  • 5 tablespoons of Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of Salt
  • 12 tablespoons of cold Butter (unsalted) cut into small pieces
  • ¼ cup plus 1 tablespoon of Ice Water
  • 1 large Egg Yolk, to brush crust with

Preheat oven to 400°.

Line a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper. Begin to roll the dough into a 12-inch round over a floured surface. Take your dough to the prepared baking sheet. Fill the middle with Cinnamon-Apple filling. Leave a two-inch border then fold and crease the dough towards the filling. Brush the dough with egg wash then sprinkle any remaining sugar. Bake for 40 minutes or until crust is golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet. Can be served warm or chilled from the fridge.
