What makes Mexico the #1 Family Travel Destination- Hotel Marina El CID Spa and Beach Resort

When I considered visiting Mexico for the first time I had concerns. Like many of us do when traveling, my concerns were based of the unknown. Not knowing which part of Mexico to visit and if I would consider it being a family friendly travel destination. To much of my surprise, that is exactly what I found in Hotel Marina El CID Spa and Beach Resort. It’s my #1 family travel destination in Mexico and here is why.

Family Travel

It’s never an easy task locating a beach resort that welcomes, caters, and accommodates a large family size like my own.  I’ve learned in the past that it can be difficult to find accommodations that suits my families needs. When traveling with four or more guests, having roomy and spacious accommodations is something that I look for. In many cases, I prefer not to separate my family members as I feel more at ease with my children in the same room as me. -And that’s exactly what I received when staying at Hotel Marina El CID Spa and Beach Resort.

El CID Resorts- Family Travel

Hotel Marina El CID Spa and Beach Resort is located in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. It’s close to other popular destinations like Cancun, Riviera Maya, and Playa del Carmen. At this pristine hotel you’ll find the widest smiles and heartfelt hospitality from their staff. Located only 25 minutes from Cancun International Airport, this amazing beach resort is tucked away from the crowded nearby areas and is exclusive to their guests which makes this gem stand out from the rest.

Puerto Morelos is known to locals as a bohemian town with a quaint fishing village that is surrounded by white sandy beaches and turquoise-colored Caribbean waters. Puerto Morelos National Reef Park is also known for being the second largest dive reef in the world. How incredible is that? -And what a laid back and relaxing atmosphere it is. A perfect family travel destination.

We stayed in a platinum one bedroom ocean view suite on the fourth floor with a room size of 1,114 sq feet. It was absolutely gorgeous!

Our suite had a comfortable king size and a queen size murphy wall bed, two full huge marble bathrooms, a separate living-dining area, two private connecting balconies looking out to the ocean. The hotel room was so spacious that I even requested a rollaway bed for my daughter and we still had plenty of space to move around. It was fantastic for my large family size.

The decor in the room was modern, colorful, and inviting. I loved the special architect like the wooden beams and fans on the high ceilings.  It really gave the rooms an open feel. Each room is zoned for dual air conditioning. Which was a huge plus for us.

All of their rooms include satellite television with premium channels, pillow menu, hair dryer, iron & iron board, in-room digital safe, telephone, 24-hour room service from special menu, mini bar stocked with bottle water, beer, and soft drinks. For your convenience they also have complimentary bath amenities like hand soap, shampoo & conditioner, and shower gel.

Being apart of the platinum club during my stay at Hotel Marina El CID Spa and Beach Resort came with many additional perks like my own concierge butler, reserving a palapa seating for the day along the beach, full use of computers, printers, and access to special snacks, desserts, and premium liquor. Anything we needed or wished for, the concierge staff was right there to help.

During our stay at Hotel Marina El CID Spa and Beach Resort we took full advantage of the non- motorized water sports like kayaking, boogie boards, and windsurfing. The weather conditions during the day was partly cloudy and passing rain storms but that didn’t stop us. The tropical breezes from the Gulf of Mexico gave us some relief when the sun peaked out.

There are two pools located on the resort and one is an 22,000 square-foot free-forming pool with cascading waterfalls and slides. We had a great time jumping off a rock ledge into a deep massive pool. There were plenty of seating available around the pool deck. Some even provided shade and umbrellas when we needed a break from swimming and the sunshine.

The UV rays are extremely strong in Mexico and without protective sunscreen you will get burned. Luckily, I packed a few different types of sunscreen for my family and it did seems to help but yes, we still got a sunburn.

The pools here were a main attraction for their hotel guests along of course, their beautiful beach. The music played by the entertainment staff was lively and upbeat. Throughout the day they had various pool activities going on.  Which included water aerobics, dancing, fun couples activities, belly flop contests, and more! Around the main pool area you can also have your hair braided, paint ceramic crafts, or play a game of life size chess.

Their infinity pool was steps from the ocean and my room. You couldn’t find a better view of the rolling ocean waves coming in than right there from this immaculate pool. It was spectacular to gaze out in the ocean while sitting in a lounge chair, or swimming in the refreshing pool water.  It definitely was a picture perfect moment.

This beautiful pool has a serene setting and is a less crowded area, it’s a relaxing spot during the day.  At night, the pool lights up with brilliant flashing colors. I was  intrigued by the sounds of the ocean and calm music playing around the pool area during our night swims. It definitely was an area of the hotel that I could unwind, relax, and waste no time in letting any stress go.

My family and I had plenty of activities to choose from while staying at Hotel El CID Marina Spa and Beach Resort. We enjoyed walking along the beach and looking for sea life. My son found mini crabs and my daughter found a piece of coral right on the beach. We didn’t see many fish swimming or turtles but we knew they were there. If you’re vacation with children you’ll be happy to know that there is El CID Kid’s Club to keep the little ones happy, entertained, and to give parents some alone time.

If you’re traveling as a couple you’ll be delighted to know that there is a adult only whirlpool and silent zone. It’s a peaceful spot to read a book, lounge near the ocean or get a massage. It’s a hidden gem and a great way for you to unwind, relax, and enjoy some quiet time.

With five restaurants to choose from, we had plenty of options for our picky eaters. Serving casual Mexican foods to gourmet dining. Reservations are required for dinner but nightly buffet at La Alhambra allows you to walk in and get seated. Most nights we favored the buffet because of the wide selection of foods, their change of themed foods and not to mention we we’re in love with their pasta bar. So delicious! Breakfast was simply the best!. I couldn’t get enough of the fresh juice bar and made to order omelet station every morning.

Breakfast at El CID Resorts

Let’s talk about their six bars and lounges. If you’re thirsty for a margarita, a beer,  or a tropical cocktail not to worry because it’s covered under the all-inclusive plan. There were plenty of options for non-alcoholic drinks as well. My children loved the kid-friendly refreshing drinks by the pool and of course, my husband and I loved sipping on tropical cocktails too!  My favorite- Blue Lagoon right from the swim up bar and you gotta love that!

El CID Resorts - Mexico

If getting a workout in while on vacation is your thing then it’s a must for you to check out their fitness center. You’ll find the latest cardio equipment, free weights and more! Looking for a little “me” time? visit their newly opened El Cocay Spa that offers massage services and traditional Mayan spa treatments. Trust me, your body will thank you.

One of things that I admired during my trip to Hotel Marina El CID Spa was the beauty of Mexico’s nature that surrounds this stunning hotel. Between the wild life roaming to the swaying coconut palm trees. The lush gardens, the tropical breezes made me believe, this is paradise.

When I reminisce about the short time that we spent at Hotel Marina El CID Spa and Beach Resort, I can’t help but not think about all the smiles on my children’s faces and all the new memories we made together. To sit back and reflect how these memories in Mexico will remain close to our hearts. It just fills my heart.

We have traveled to many destinations together and gone on many road trips but experiencing a new country for the first time and doing it together makes it even more special and we owe a big “thank you” to El CID Resorts. You have helped capture our love for Mexico, your beautiful resort and for that, I am extremely grateful. This is how inspiring new memories at Hotel Marina El CID Spa and Beach Resort looks like for family travel.

Hasta, la próxima vez mi amigo.
