Fresh Strawberries are so delightful to eat especially when they’re in season. Don’t you agree? I just love how ripe and tasty they are. Plus, there are so many different recipes that you can use strawberries in which makes it even more favorable in my opinion. Just the other day, I was thinking about Spring. How excited my family is to see the season finally arriving.
The warmer weather always brings a desire for lighter fare of foods don’t you agree? Eating lightly during Spring doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice on those delicious recipes it just means a seasonal change in our foods is a good thing.
So when I thinking of a dessert to make for my family, I thought of my White Chocolate-Strawberry Flaky Puff.
You guys, I’ve made this recipe years ago around Easter and my family loved it! -And, when I tell you that their eyes lit up when they saw me make it again is in understatement. They knew that the deliciousness of this special dessert would soon be theirs.
First, on my shopping list was a pint of fresh strawberries, vanilla instant-pie filling pudding, Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry Sheets, whipped cream and white chocolate. Sounds delicious already huh?
I began by slicing my strawberries in small pieces then placing them inside a large bowl. Next, I added a teaspoon of sugar and gave them a good mixing. Covered the bowl with wrap then refrigerated until ready to serve.
While your strawberries are getting chilled in the refrigerator, place your pudding in a large bowl. I used store brand pudding mixture although instant or ready to serve would be just fine. I prepared the mixture according to the instructions on the package. Covered and place in the fridge to form and chill.
I just love Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry Sheets. Have you used them before? I have when preparing and baking my desserts. You can find them in the freezer section at the grocery store. They’re so delish! You really can’t go wrong when they’re so easy to work with.
Since your pastry sheets come frozen, I just remove them from the freezer and allow them to thaw for 30 minutes Once thawed, spread flour on your cutting board or working station then place the pastry sheets right on top. Begin to unfold the puff pastry sheet as seen below.
Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry Sheets come in three sections that are together. There are pre-scored lines to separate each piece. To make it easier, I used my pastry cutter to separate.
Now is a great time to preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Once your pastry sheet is separated into three sections, fold down each pastry section one at a time. It’s ideal to make sure that each fold is equal sized when cut. By using my pastry cutter, I separated each section then cut them in half.
Place parchment paper on your cookie or baking pan. Then take each section piece and place them on top of the parchment paper. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven then cool.
Don’t these pastry puffs look amazing? They’re so simple to make it’s silly. Golden and flaky to perfection. Honestly, they’re so hard to resist when you see how wonderful they came out.
Now it’s time for the heavenly part. Grab your bowl of chilled fresh strawberries, vanilla pudding and whip cream from the refrigerator. Also, your cooled pastry puffs.
Take one pastry puff and give it a light push on the top flaky crust. You want the bottom piece of the pastry to be flatter rather than fluffy. Start by adding three tablespoons of vanilla pudding, 7 sliced of fresh strawberries and your desired amount of whipped cream.
Grab another piece of the pastry puff and place it on top of the whipped cream. The temptation is real isn’t it. Sprinkle some confectionery sugar on top and get ready for the white chocolate. Yum!
For the white chocolate topping, I used white chocolate bars. Melting the bars in the microwave first, then drizzling it on top of the flaky fluff.
