With summer arriving soon, I can’t think of a better time to remind you how important it is to protect your children’s skin against those harmful UV Rays. Skin cancer is one of many reasons why you must protect and cover your skin during the outdoor conditions.
Did you know that everyone, regardless of skin color can sunburn? According to Skin Cancer.org, yes they can.
Here in Florida, we spend many hours outdoors. From going to theme parks, water parks, the beach or just being out and about so keeping our bodies covered and applying protective sunscreen is my utmost duty as a parent.
“Platypus Australia was formed in 1996 by two mothers who had first hand experience with applying sun-screen lotion to kids-on-the move! They realized that there was a demand for kids bathing suits and rash guard clothing that would protect children from the sun’s damaging rays and still be comfortable and cool. Today, Platypus Australia continues to serve the high demand in UV protective beachwear, Girl’s and Boy’s Rash Vests/Sun Shirts and UV Swimwear including Baby Sun Protective Swimwear.”
Platypus main focus is to provide protective clothing and educate parents about the overexposure to ultraviolet radiation over years. Their standards are set pretty high as they offer only UPF 50+ clothing for children. Their clothing collections will give your child excellent protection since they are designed to cover the maximum area of the body.
Just recently, I had a wonderful opportunity to review Platypus Girls Collection called Lace for my daughter.
The Lace Girls Collection is available in sizes from 0 to 8. This most adorable collection includes 17 featured clothing items that you keep your little girl stylish and covered.
On the Platypus website, you will find styles of a Baby Sunskirt, Baby Sunset, Sunshirts, Boardshorts, Swimsuits, Tankini, Bucket Hats, a Sunjacket and Fitted Sunset with Tankini set. Being that my daughter is 6 years and just turned six last month, she is quite tall for her age. She normally wears a 7 or 8 so I ordered a size 8 for the Fitted Sunset with Tankini and it fits perfectly. Normally most tankini tops are bigger on her which causes me to tighten up the straps but with the Lace style, I didn’t have that problem.
This super cute bathing suit comes with 3 interchangeable pieces. The tankini has a racer back which allows for more comfort and support. You could use the Fitted Cap Sleeve Rash Guard Shirt instead of the tankini or wear both and use the shirt as a cover up.
The skirt bottoms has a tight fitting and ruffles around the garment.
This collection set offers the best sun protection and blocks out more than 97.5% of the sun’s rays. The Fabric is made from a high quality Matt Nylon Lycra which will stretch and will form to the body.
Overall, I really love this style for my daughter. When going to the beach I feel relieved in knowing that she is well protected. This style fits her personality and is comfortable for her to wear while swimming. Because of the Nylon Lycra material, she is able to move around as it contours and stretches when she moves. The light colors of this Lace Collection is perfect for any little girl. From my own experience, wearing dark swimwear clothing only causes my daughter to get hotter and uncomfortable so these colors of the soft blue and pink is just fantastic.
The Fitted Sunset with Tankini retails for $61.95.
