Oh yes! Football season has finally arrived and in this household, We Are Ready!! I will admit, I love the game and have been a fan of football since I was a little girl. I can thank my parents for being ticket passholders for over 20 years. I certainly remember all the great memories of them taking me to the games and me experiencing tailgating. Football was and still is a big part of my life during the Fall season. What can I say, I enjoy it! Even though our favorite team is from another state and we don’t get to see games played in person, my family and I don’t miss a game on television. Come Sunday, Monday and even Thursday nights, the T.V. is on and we are rooting for our team.
Preparing for game day in this house means getting our favorite football jerseys on and marking our spot in the living room as we build up the excitement to game time. My husband is a football fanatic. When the game is on, he is in total focus mode. Yup, he is one of those guys that speaks to the T.V.(like the refs or players can hear him) ha-ha. I laugh but honestly, I’ve done it myself. Specially on those crazy game plays or calls by the referees. Needless to say, our friends and other family members fit right in. We all do it!
Even though we don’t tailgate with friends, we still love to invite them over to fire up the grill on game day. In my opinion, grilling and football go hand to hand. Of course comfort foods and munchies are always a must but you still need a dish that creates a “Bam” effect. You know, one of those meals that keeps the momentum going.
One thing is for sure, it’s game day and I don’t want to spend all my time in the kitchen cooking a huge meal. I want to enjoy the game just like everyone else. So grilling is the best choice by far. It’s fast, easier and makes less of a mess in the kitchen if you ask me.
We love spicy and hot foods specially those that are full of flavor so that is why my Fiery- Bacon Wrapped Pork Stuffed Pepper recipe is perfect to serve for game day or an everyday meal.
When it’s time for hotness we reach for the #KingOfFlavor. Once grilled, the Fiery Bacon Wrapped Pork Stuffed Peppers are so tender that you only really need a fork to dig in. Adding bacon around the peppers then basting them with El Yucateco Red Habanero Hot Sauce, absolutely puts this dish on full blast of flavor.
Hot sauces are certainly a must for this family. The hotter the better is what I say. You better believe it’s a weakness of ours. Normally we use hot sauces for dipping pleasures but adding El Yucateco Red Habanero Hot Sauce to the ground pork and bacon of this recipe delivers the most flavor. When I recently visited Walmart, I picked out a few of my El Yucateco Hot Sauce favorites and boy-oh-boy are they ethereal! Take my advice, if you love hot sauce then try out El Yucateco Red Habanero Hot Sauce. It’s made from fresh red habanero peppers, tomatoes and a touch of spices and seasonings. It’s loaded with flavor and has that “kick” that you can use on just about everything.
I don’t know about you but we love pork stuffed peppers! They are so easy to make plus the meat cooked inside is so flavorful from it’s natural juices. The pepper itself becomes so soft and appetizing! I’m not gonna lie, green bell peppers are my favorite to cook with. I’m guessing because of the taste, size and shape variations makes cooking with them so much fun. Not to forget, you can jam pack them with your flavored meats since they can be hollowed out.
Now, let’s get to the good stuff. We love Cheese!!! Some days I will add a little to a recipe then I have those days that I just can’t stop. Keep adding cheese please is what my kiddos say. Monterey Jack Cheese gives my Bacon Wrapped Pork Stuffed Pepper recipe the right texture to keep the pork moist. Have you ever noticed how your food dries up quickly on the grill? Well, by adding only a few ounces of Monterey Cheese it will help keep this dish moistful.
Once you have finished with shredding your cheese, add your ground pork and two tablespoons of El Yucateco Red Habanero Hot Sauce. Being that this recipe only requires a few ingredients, this dish is extremely fast and easy to prepare. If you feel the need for extra hot sauce, do it up! Adding a few more tablespoons will definitely take this dish up a notch!
When it comes to loading these delicious peppers with your ground pork, it’s not rocket science. Well maybe it is but I found scooping your desired amount into each pepper then packing them downwards with a spoon was easy enough. Leaving no space uncovered.
- 16 Pieces of Smoked Bacon
- 5 Medium Size Green Bell Peppers
- 2 Pounds of Ground Pork
- 8 Ounces of Shredded Monterey Jack Cheese
- 2 Tablespoons of El Yucateco Red Habanero Hot Sauce
- 6 Ounces of BBQ Sauce of Choice
- Cut off the Green Pepper Tops. Hollow out , Remove all Seeds and Rinse.
- In a large bowl, Mix 2lbs of raw ground pork with 8 ounces of Monterey Jack Cheese.
- Add 2 Tablespoons of El Yucateco Red Habanero Hot Sauce to the ground pork. Blend well
- Scoop and fill your desired amount of pork into each Green Bell Pepper.
- Place Green Pepper tops back on and hold with toothpicks.
- Wrap 3 pieces of bacon around each pepper. Use toothpicks to secure the bacon.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 mins or until pepper begins to soften.
- Remove from oven and let stand for 3 mins.
- Place peppers on pre-heated grill on med to low heat.
- Occasionally, flip the peppers until they are lightly charred.
- Begin basting the peppers with BBQ sauce. You may add extra hot sauce as desired.
- Cook and sauce until bacon is nice and crispy.
- Enjoy and serve hot.
It’s time for the grill! After you soften these beauts in the oven for 15 minutes they are ready!! Don’t they already look tempting? There is no way around it. These Fiery- Bacon Wrapped Pork Stuffed Peppers are calling my name. Ok.. I’m actually calling their name and thinking Yum! Yum! Give me some! That sweet smell of BBQ is in full force.
Start basting your bacon and peppers with your favorite BBQ Sauce and of course El Yucateco Red Habanero Hot Sauce. Add as much as you desire but remember these tantalizing peppers will be soon on your plate.
I take full credit of how delicious these Bacon Wrapped Pork Stuffed Peppers look but my daughter made these awesome football toothpicks all on her own. She insisted and said “what’s more fun than footballs?” and I couldn’t agree with her more. I mean, what’s tailgating or a football party without them right?
If using El Yucateco Red Habanero Hot Sauce doesn’t do it for you then I’m not sure what will. The wrapped crispy bacon is full of spicy hot flavors. Unwrapping the bacon is only half the joy. Once you get a hold of that tender green pepper, your in delectable heaven. And- that my friends, is how we roll on game day!
