Can you believe it? Halloween is right around the corner. Are you looking for a unique way to pass out tasty candy this year? Your party guests will love getting a DIY Witches Broom Candy Bag full of delicious Hershey candies.
I’m always looking for new ways to surprise the kids during Halloween specially when it comes to passing out candy. Usually, I will make up treat bags for my children’s friends at school and even for our annual Halloween party but this year, I wanted to do something more creative.
When I was shopping at Walmart the other day I came across BIG bags of Hershey candies. I totally scored with this because normally I pick up 10 regular size bags just to fill the treat bags. These Large bags are perfect size for a big crowds like during trunk or treat and to pass out during your Halloween party. With many different varieties of candy inside of each bag, how can you go wrong.
I’ll tell ya, it’s hard to resist a few pieces when your favorite candies like Reese’s, Kit Kat Bars and Twizzlers are all mixed up in these Big bags.
So when I grabbed a few Big bags of Hershey candies, I thought of a clever idea! Yes, you guess it. Make DIY Witch Broom Candy Bags!. Kids and even the adults will love the thought that you put into it. Not sure about you but my kids have always been fascinated with witches and their broomsticks. So I just knew this would win them over. These bags are easy to make and takes no time at all to do. Just think, you’ll be the coolest mom at the party when the kids see them.
The Witches Broom Candy bag only needs a few items to get you started. For my tutorial you will need two brown sandwich bags, decorative ribbon, a Halloween tag, a stick (branch), Hershey’s candy, plastic sandwich bags and scissors.
Start by cutting one of your brown bags into strips. You will need to cut at least five inches or so near the opening of the bag.
Next, take the second brown sandwich bag and start cutting it into strips. Keep in mind, you will be cutting right down to the bottom of the bag so becareful how you cut. Once your bag is cut and opened, you will notice your strips hanging over to the side. Place the first brown bag inside of your second bag then open it up. Add your desired amount of Hershey’s candy in a plastic sandwich bag then place it inside your first brown bag. Now, take your stick or branch and place it on top of your candy or in the middle of the bag.
Since we’re working with paper, becareful on this next step.
To give these candy bags that broom desired look, you must gather up the strips and then gently pull them upwards. I found it easier to bunch or gather a few sections at a time when I am pulling them up. (Think of pulling your hair up into a pony tail).
Once your strips are together, use your ribbon attached to your tag and tie a bow or knot from keeping it from falling down or apart.
Pretty simple right?
Aren’t they just the cutest Halloween candy bags!
My children thought they were the coolest thing ever and couldn’t wait to show them off at our party.
Having the BIG bags of Hershey’s candy on hand certainly makes it so much easier when filling the Witches Broom Candy Bags. With over 100+ pieces in each bag, I was able to place huge helpings of candy inside of each bag and still have enough leftover to place some in my candy dish.
So when you heading out to Walmart to pick up your supplies , make sure you grab a few Halloween Big bags of Hershey candy.
