Enjoy Seasonal Produce Fresh From Florida
Ahh, Florida. Home of white sandy beaches, and tropical warm weather year round. How can you beat that? Millions of visitors flock to the sunshine state each year to enjoy the warm Florida sun on their faces. Can you blame them? I certainly cannot. It was my motivation to move back here one day after starting my own family. -And you can bet, I made it! There is nothing like a daily dose of sun-kissed glow of vitamin D. I’m a typical Florida girl who loves the outdoors while wearing sandals or flip-flops year round. It’s a must for me!
Even although I wasn’t full raised in the sunshine state as a child, I knew that Florida would be called home for my family one day and I was absolutely right. Like for most people who visit Central Florida, our warm year-round beautiful temperatures make it so hard for people to leave. The beautiful sunsets and swaying palm trees make it hard to resist.
One of things that I love about living here in Florida is having the opportunity to enjoy seasonal produce Fresh From Florida year-round. My Local and home grown Florida fruits and vegetables taste so fresh and crisp. It practically feels like you pick them in your own backyard. -And in reality you actually do. Choosing local seasonal produce year-round not only helps our local Florida farmers but in-season fruits and vegetables stay delicious and fresh.
In-season fruits and vegetables are not hard to find here in Florida. Just recently while I was shopping at my local Publix store picking up fresh tomatoes, and bell peppers, I found a clear way to locate local Florida farm produce by finding the Fresh from Florida label. Florida farmers make it so easy for us to find their fresh produce year-round by either placing a Fresh from Florida label on packaging, directly on individual produce, or a sign that says, Fresh from Florida located in the produce department.
You can find these labels on fresh vegetables and fruits such as snap beans, bell peppers, radishes, tomatoes, cabbage, mushrooms, and even strawberries!
I always feel good about purchasing in-season produce from local Florida stores. Our local Florida farmers work endlessly in harvesting their crops to make sure that we have the freshest vegetables ready for our dinner table.
Is eating local and seasonal produce better?
Oh yes, of course it is! Not only am I helping my local farmers with the purchases that I make but I get to enjoy seasonal produce Fresh From Florida year-round. Did you know that typically seasonal fruits and vegetables tend to cost less? They sure do!
Also, purchasing Florida produce during “peak” season allows us to enjoy fresher and tastier fruits and vegetables. Did you know that on the website for Fresh From Florida you can find a printable shopping list that displays when each fruit and vegetable is in-season for each month? I think it’s wonderful! Eating local in-season produce helps my community, the environment, and has a nutritional value for my whole family.
According to the crops in season list, bell peppers, cabbage, mushrooms, tomatoes, and strawberries are all in-season for the month of March. This would be a great time for you to get your checklist ready.
