My open letter to my tween son about why I think he’s amazing.
Where does mommy begin? From the first moment that I found out that this precious baby growing inside my belly was going to be a boy I just knew that you would be special. You were all that we hoped for. A healthy precious little baby with the biggest smile. When you were born your dad and I looked at each other with the widest smile and tears in our eyes, our baby boy was finally here. After years of trying, you were in our arms.
I still remember that everyone in our family wanted a chance to hold you even your twin older brothers. They couldn’t wait to see you crawl, walk for the first time, and say your first words. Your brothers would turn to mommy and say, I love my little brother. -And your dad, forget it. He couldn’t have been more proud to share his name with you. I can remember your dad holding you up on one hand and thanking our good lord for his son.
As for me your mom, I spent every moment watching you grow. And boy, did you grow fast. You really loved eating especially your baby cereal. Your face was always covered in it. (ha-ha) Your rosy red little cheeks and your adorable giggle won mommies heart every time. There wasn’t a time that you didn’t put a smile on my face and make me a proud mom.
When your baby sister was born and still little yourself, you were so patience, kind, and helpful. You were always by your sister’s side to guide her and still are till this day.
For being still so young, you’ve shown so much grace and understanding. And let me just tell you, your kindness is overpowering. It’s remarkable to watch how you can influence others to be the best they can and how that cute little smile of yours gets everyone’s attention.
Your aunties would always say to me, enjoy every moment with you because one day I will blink and you will be all grown up. That statement was so true. I did blink and now my handsome son is almost 11 years old and in the fifth grade.
How can this be?
That same little boy who would always lug around a football now has dreams of being in the NFL one day just like your great uncle. One thing that you’ve instilled in all of us is to never give up and keep trying.
For all of these reasons and more, I’m so proud of you. Your heart stretches for miles. You inspire me to be the best mom each and every day.
There is nothing in this world that could change how much I love you. I will always be there for the long talks, the heartaches and to wipe your tears.
My son, you’re forever loved.
I will admit, I was pretty emotional while reading my letter to my son. -And you’ll have to forgive me for those “paused” moments. It was not easy holding back my tears.
I’ve joined Yoplait Go Big to encourage my readers to write a letter to your tween, sharing why and how they amaze you. I know it will come easy when you say the reasons why your tween crushes it every single day. And to be honest, children need to hear it more often. So grab your cup of coffee and breakast then start writing. Once you have your letter written, let them read it or better yet, read it to them out loud just like I did. Holding back the tears was not easy but rest assure, you’ll be glad that you did.
One more thing, visit the Go Big Facebook page and share your letter. You might have a chance to the spotlight for your tween. Go Big will select three teens and showcase their amazing stories. While you’re there, you can find out more information about this cool contest.
If you haven’t heard of Yoplait Go Big before now then you’re missing out. Go Big is a large pouch made from real fruit. They’re made with tweens/teens in mind. Just grip and tear up the back. Not to mention, the packaging is pretty amazing itself.
You can find Go Big at your local stores such as Walmart and Target. Try them out, my son loves the 2 variety packs of strawberry and mixed berry.
Shh, don’t tell but this mom tried them both. 🙂
So tell me, do you have a tween that’s amazing? I would love to hear about them.
